Some friends of mine, for mirth and glee, Fixed on a day to have a spree, When, 'twas agreed upon that we

We should go out an angling. With rod and line, and wheel, and creel, Up, Sportsmen, up, upon your heel, And show the spirit that you feel

'Twas at old Muggins' house we met, All ripe for fun, a jovial set, We had cigars, and just a wet,
Before we went an angling. Old Muggins he a long rod had, Which was his father's, when a lad ; While Billy Blower made a line Of thick and goodly hempen twine.
